As part of a First Year assignment in Drawing and Digital Imaging at Parsons, we were asked to design a hard-cover accordion-style book that traced a journey, a 'lifescape' that expressed a changing sense of 'place'. What we defined as a journey was subject to individual interpretation, whether it be spiritual, emotional, or geographical. I chose to embark on a cultural exploration.
There are three cultures that best define me. I was born in India, raised in Hong Kong, and now live out my days in New York City. My lifescape book depicts this narrative chronologically. The book is a collage of digital and physical components, elements that define key turning points in my life's journey. I pulled material from a variety of sources, whether it'd be maps, photos, or items that I felt were emblematic of myself.
